I absolutely never have heard this Tallinn based band before and as their music is very different from what I have the use to listen to, I took the time to visit the net to find information about the life and history of the project. So it appears that Taak saw the light of day somewhere during the year 2005 as a sub-band of Dawn of Gehenna. Both bands share the same line-up and more surprisingly both acts play the same music. What we get here throughout the eleven tracks of Taak first album (sung in Estonian) is some kind of very old school heavy metal coupled with first hour doom metal. «Koerapööriöö» is a strange cross between Black Sabbath, Deep Purple (without the boring keyboards solo actions), Uriah Heep and other very old and more obscure references such as Gaskin and Praying Mantis. This really does sound its age but that does not denigrate in any way the obvious quality of the music. It just sounds a little bit old fashioned in the nowadays scene but if you like the first days of heavy metal and do not know Taak you are missing out.
